This Privacy Policy describes how SHELLNGN ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website (shellngn.com), SHELLNGN Cloud service, SHELLNGN Pro software, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, do not use the Service.
2. Important Distinction: Cloud vs. Pro
SHELLNGN is offered in two versions with significantly different privacy implications:
SHELLNGN Cloud
A cloud-hosted service where your data is stored on our servers. This Privacy Policy fully applies to SHELLNGN Cloud users.
SHELLNGN Pro (Self-Hosted)
A Docker application you install on your own infrastructure. We have no access to data stored in your self-hosted SHELLNGN Pro installation. Your server credentials, connection data, and usage information remain entirely on your systems. Only Sections 3 (Website), 5 (Payment), 8 (Analytics on our website), and 17 (Contact) of this Privacy Policy apply to Pro users.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide
Account Information: When you create an account or contact us, we may collect:
- Email address (required)
- Display name (optional)
- Password (stored in hashed form)
3.2 Server Connection Data (Cloud Only)
To provide the SHELLNGN Cloud service, we store:
- Server hostnames and IP addresses you configure
- Connection credentials (encrypted - see Section 6)
- Server nicknames, notes, and organizational folders you create
- Command snippets you save
3.3 Automatically Collected Information
When you use the Service, we may automatically collect:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and features used
- Date and time of access
- Referring website
3.4 Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, monitor, log, or store:
- The content of your SSH, SFTP, RDP, VNC, or Telnet sessions
- Commands you execute on your servers
- Files you transfer
- Screen content during remote desktop sessions
- Your servers' data or content
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Process your account registration and manage your subscription
- Respond to your inquiries and support requests
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, subscription notices)
- Send marketing communications (only with your consent, and you can opt out anytime)

5. Payment Processing and FastSpring
All purchases are processed by FastSpring, Inc., which acts as our authorized reseller and merchant of record. When you make a purchase:
- We do not collect or store your payment card details, billing address, or financial information
- FastSpring collects and processes your payment information directly
- FastSpring may share with us: your name, email, country, transaction ID, and purchase details (plan type, amount)
- FastSpring handles VAT/tax calculation and collection based on your location

6. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

- Server credentials are encrypted at rest
- Access to production systems is restricted and logged
6.2 Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- Using strong, unique passwords
- Enabling two-factor authentication when available
- Securing your own servers and credentials
- For Pro users: securing your self-hosted installation
6.3 Security Disclaimer
WHILE WE IMPLEMENT REASONABLE SECURITY MEASURES, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE THE ABSOLUTE SECURITY OF YOUR DATA. YOU TRANSMIT INFORMATION TO US AT YOUR OWN RISK. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CIRCUMVENTION OF ANY PRIVACY SETTINGS OR SECURITY MEASURES.
7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

- FastSpring (payment processing)
- Cloud hosting providers
